Marc Silver & the Stonethrowers “Halos”
Americana Highways presents this premiere of Marc Silver & the Stonethrowers’ song “Halos” from their forthcoming album The Dark of Our Hymn, which is due out on November 6. The album was produced by Jaron Olevsky and recorded at The Gradwell House. It was engineered by Matt Weber, mixed by Tucker Martine, and mastered by Josh Bonati.

Musicians on “Halos” are Marc Silver on vocals, guitars and vocal harmonies; Jaron Olevsky on piano and organ; Jeremy McDonald on bass; Clay Sears on electric and acoustic guitars; and Joe Baldacci on drums.
As Marc Silver tells us about this song, “‘Halos’ began with my morning ritual: a page of free-writing before the day begins. After hearing Townes Van Zandt’s ‘Quicksilver Daydreams of Maria,’ I came home and fought to capture its imagery before the inspiration disappeared. That urgency found its way into the song: a man in awe of a woman whose elemental beauty he knows he can’t possess, only witness. ‘Halos’ became an exploration of the solitude of being alive, the comfort of finding someone who quiets that loneliness, and the realization that the most precious things we’re given can’t be held or controlled. It follows that love through loss and death, hoping that beyond our final dawning, its light is there waiting for us to return.”
Dark and downcast, Marc Silver invites us into his soul-searching for the core of truth. This song honors beauty and respect for another as a moody and introspective song of grief, acceptance and learning ultimate self-reliance.
