Write For Americana Highways?

Would you like to write for Americana Highways?

We always need more hands on deck to cover the many many submissions we get each week of quality Americana, folk, rootsy, alt country, and sometimes blues, bluegrass or old-timey music. We aren’t able to pay writers, but you do get a certain amount of cred when you walk to the front of the line at shows or see your review right there in black & white.

Review albums: We’d like you to be willing to commit to writing for us for at least a handful of reviews if you ask to write. We ask that the reviews be submitted a week before the album is set to release. We get a lot of submissions, and if we set you up to write for us, you can select your own albums to review, for the most part.  (We’ll explain how that works once we’re setting you up.)  We also will ask you to review an album that we select for you, approximately once a month.  There are some simple guidelines to follow – which you will be sent once you reach out.

Covering shows: We’ll ask for you to gain access via a free ticket (and photo pass) anywhere in the US to a show within the wide Americana music umbrella, and probably we’ll take coverage worldwide (but ask).  Ideally you are a photographer with a good camera and are willing to shoot photos and do a short 300 – 600 word write-up summary of the show afterward.  And please no more than 30 photos.  If you want to review the show sans camera that is workable too, with ONE cellphone picture, preferable just of the marquee with the band name on it.

If you’d like to join the team, please drop us a line using americanahighways @ gmail . com with “new writer for AH” in the subject heading.
