From the coasts of California to the Big Apple, NYC, alt-country duo Wild & Blue’s dynamite combo of tight family harmonies, thoughtful arrangement and soulful storytelling helped to forge a sustained musical collaboration spanning the years and miles. In addition to lead vocals, April Bennett took the creative helm as director of the music video for the new single. A honky tonk number played in a honky tonk dive bar with a familiar feel is the perfect combination. Sweet vocals and the swaggery edge from Wild & Blue will brighten your mood.
The first single off of Wild & Blue’s new EP I Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way is a throwback country honky tonk tune about not living in regret for taking a chance on love, despite the real potential for heartbreak. I’m definitely a bit of a hopeless romantic. When it came to writing this song, I was definitely inspired by artists like Ray Price and Asleep at the Wheel. But then April came in and took what I had written and elevated it to another level entirely. — Steve Bennett
Visually, I wanted the video to have a distinct 1970’s feel, and feature a night out at the local bar, everyone dancing and feeling good. I was fortunate to find a collaborator in Sean Carroll, our cinematographer, who helped bring that vision to life. The final piece of the puzzle ended up being our location, The Riptide, a cozy honky tonk dive bar located in the Sunset District of San Francisco,CA. It’s got a beautiful hole-in-the-wall feel (built in 1941!) and we couldn’t imagine a more perfect place. — April Bennett
