Ashley Heath — “I Remember”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Ashley Heath’s song “I Remember” from her forthcoming album Something to Believe. Something to Believe was produced by Ashley Heath; recorded and mixed by Clay Miller at Crossroads Studios in Arden, NC; and mastered by Stephen Smith.
“I Remember” is Ashley Heath on vocals, electric and acoustic guitars; Patrick Dodd on electric guitar; Daniel Combs on organ and piano; Ryan Crabtree on bass; and Paul Gladstone on drums. Opening a song with slow, warm winding acoustic guitar is always a good choice. Following on the heels of that opener, Ashley sings a hopeful tale of over sorrow and regret for the ending. “Is there anything I can do to move to a brighter sky?” she asks, and then “darling I remember the best part of you.” as her voice gives way emotionally.
I wrote “I Remember” about my own internal struggle of trying to remember that life is short and that if something bad happens “it’s just a bad day. Not a bad life”. This is one of the most stripped down songs on the ep and the song has a strong lyrical message of doing the best we can despite the circumstances. — Ashley Heath
