The Bear and the Bison — “She’s Cold”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of the Bear and the Bison’s song “She’s Cold,” from the duo’s forthcoming album due out this summer. The album was produced by Mark Lennon, sonically mixed by Dean Nelson (Beck) and mastered by Danny Kalb (Beck and Ben Harper). The song was written by Mark W. Lennon and Courtney S. Lennon.
“She’s Cold” is Mark Lennon on guitar and vocals, Dean Vivirito (Who Can Sleep) on vocals, Patrick Jackson (Folkfaces) on standup bass, Charlie Coughlin (The Brothers Blue) on fiddle, Jim Whitford on pedal steel.
Many of the scenes for the video were shot around the outskirts of Buffalo, New York by Mark and Courtney Lennon. Watch the couple leap through white snow, and follow the snow through various scenes. But the groove and rockin’ style of this song and Lennon’s gritty vocal tones are very warming.
“She’s Cold” is a fictional story based on our experience moving from Los Angeles to Buffalo NY during the winter time. We literally arrived in a snow storm in the middle of the night in early January. The next couple of months were spent isolated at a house overlooking a frozen Lake Ontario. It was white sea to sky as far as you could see, it felt foreign to me but beautiful and peaceful.
But the idea of the song really was to tap into the feeling of loneliness and isolation moving to a new place. The strains you go through trying to make love, friendships and life work, as you adjust to your new reality. — Mark Lennon
