Americana Highways is hosting Mandy Rowden’s interpretation of Neil Young’s song “After the Goldrush.” The song will be on her upcoming album Parachute, out on March 19 via Howlin’ Dog Records. The album was engineered, mixed and mastered by Matt Smith at Six String Ranch in Austin, TX. The song is Mandy Rowden on piano and vocals.
Covering a song as ubiquitous and beloved as Neil Young’s “After the Goldrush” demonstrates Rowden’s respect for music’s legends.
Neil Young has always been a songwriting hero of mine and when we began looking for a cover tune to round out the album, ‘After The Goldrush’ immediately came to mind. I’ve loved this song and have covered it for years. The dreamlike quality of the lyrics and the earnest piano fit the bill perfectly for the sentiment I wanted at the end of this record. — Mandy Rowden
