Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Rick Shea‘s song “A Tenderhearted Love,” from his forthcoming album Love & Desperation, due out on October 23 on Tres Pescadores Records. Personnel on the album are Phil Parlapiano on accordion and Hammond B3; Jeff Turmes on bass and saxophone; Shawn Nourse on drums; Jim Shirey on fiddle; Dave Hall on bass; Steve Nelson on acoustic bass; David Jackson on accordion; Skip Edwards on accordion and Vox organ; Probyn Gregory on trumpet; and Dan Navarro on harmony vocals.
This song has that intangible quality of being instantly familiar in the dearest way, as does all of Rick Shea’s music.
I owed my wife a love song and probably a lot more, being married to a musician is not always easy and she’s been kind and supportive to me for a long time. I was trying to capture a bit of the simple and direct feeling of songs like Van Morrison’s ‘Tupelo Honey’ or JJ Cale’s ‘Magnolia’, kind of a tall order I know. — Rick Shea
