Americana Highways brings you this premiere of the Shootouts interpretation of ELO’s song “Don’t Bring Me Down” from their two-song mini EP with “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” on the B-side. The songs were produced by Jordan Lehning and Skylar Wilson; recorded by Grammy-winning engineer Jeremy Ferguson at Battle Tapes Recording; mixed by Jordan Lehning and mastered by Paul Blakemore. The Shootouts are Ryan Humbert (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Brian Poston (electric & acoustic guitar), Ryan McDermott (bass), Dylan Gomez (drums, percussion) and Emily Bates (harmony vocals).
With an electrified, country twist, this is an interpretation beyond your wildest imagination. Just, wow!
To celebrate our Ameripolitan Music Awards nomination, and as a thank you to our supporters for a great 2019, we went into the studio in Nashville with our friends Jordan Lehning and Skylar Wilson to put our spin on two of our favorite classic hits. We had a blast with these and hope you enjoy them too.
ELO is one of my favorite bands of all time, and I idolize Jeff Lynne as a songwriter and producer. Giving “Don’t Bring Me Down” a try as a honky-tonk tune just felt right — and it’s a ton of fun to perform live too! – Ryan Humbert
