As Drew tells us, “I wanted to write a song where the ghost wasn’t the person who left: it was all the things they left behind. I loved the idea of making someone’s memory the villain. It kicks down your door, walks into your house, and refuses to leave until it’s ready.”
So often memories are faded or are painful things we try to outrun. Drew brings out attention to the other kind, the ones we want to savor. The sexy hard driving ones. And this one is presented with resonator guitar and trills of organ, “Don’t even act like you don’t know me… a bad echo of a goodbye, sonofabitch I’m your memory.”
