Magenta Sunshine “The Lines”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Magenta Sunshine’s song “The Lines” from their forthcoming album Clarity, which is set for release later this summer. Clarity was engineered and produced by Keenan McRae, and was recorded at Art Is Sound Studio in New Orleans, Louisiana and in the band’s home studio in Asheville, NC.
“The Lines” is David Einzig on guitar and vocals; Oliver Snow on bass; Jerome Widenhouse IV on flugelhorn; Micah Thomas on drums and percussion; Logan Jayne on drums; Kendra Warren on trombone and vocals; and Dylan Hannan on saxophone and flute.
As David Einzig tells us about the song, “Written at a time of loneliness during Covid, when we stood in lines 6’ apart and when we had all the time in the world and no time at all. It’s a little like distilling an image and an internal reflection at the same time. It’s finding the resilience to keep moving straight through without getting too trapped in the fear and isolation. The repetitious, “and you’re moving” at the song’s outro is like a mantra and a reminder to keep going until you get through it.”
Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Magenta Sunshine creates rootsy, homespun, unpretentious folksy songs, recorded in the same style. Written during the Covid era, this song resonates for times we all feel alienation. “The Lines” is very unpolished homespun sounding music, and as such, it will draw you into that feeling you have when you’re watching a live band on someone’s porch in the summer sun. Raw and real and very human.
