Erin Gibney  “Lose The Baggage”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Erin Gibney’s song “Lose the Baggage” (co-written with Kipp Williams) from her forthcoming album set for release via Rock Ridge Music. The album was produced by Kipp Williams. This song will be available on May 22.

“Lose The Baggage” is Erin Gibney on vocals and Kipp Williams on guitar, bass, drums, and other instruments.

Erin talked to us about the song, “This song has been a long time coming for me in my catalog. Online, I talk so much about dating, relationships, and breakups. I speak on my experiences with love in my 20s and try to empower women to walk away from relationships that are no longer serving them. When I walked into the writers room with Kipp Williams, he asked me why I had never written a song that touches on everything I talk about on social media. I honestly didn’t have an answer.

“When we sat down to write “Lose the Baggage,” it was one of the easiest and most fun times I have had writing music. It just felt like the most natural song and pulled from so many experiences my friends and I have had dating in our 20s. Creating the visuals for this and bringing it to life online was incredible. I am so grateful to my co-writer and producer, Kipp, for encouraging this song out of me!”

The heart of the song is the ending of a relationship: “Kinda guy that leaves you crying on your birthday / Only present you get’s being all alone / Makes you wonder how he got you in the first place /
Now you’re thinking that you’re never gunna know.”  The song uses quite a few modern production choices and lives in the indie pop realm – with a bold feeling of empowerment about doing that one thing that’s so hard to do: lose the baggage.
