Bonnie & the Mere Mortals “Take Me to the Moon”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Bonnie and the Mere Mortals’ song “Take Me to the Moon,” which was co-written by Bonnie Ramone and Matt Elias, from her forthcoming album. The album was produced by Bonnie Ramone and Destin LeCornu, and recorded by Destin LeCornu at Sunset Place Studios. It was mastered by Garrett Haines at TreeLady Studios.

“Take Me to the Moon” is Bonnie Ramone on vocals, synthesizer and guitar; Matt Elias on guitar; Jill Storm on bass and harmony vocals; Andrew Roulston on percussion and harmony vocals; and Destin LeCornu on synthesizer.

This song is a merger between glam and country Western, which sounds almost implausible, but Bonnie makes it work seamlessly in a song that offers a pathway forward out of the mess we are in. Do they still have love songs up in space? Listen to this song and feel hopeful that maybe, from that perspective, animosities can fade.

This song is so special to me. It’s my hope, my mission statement, and my warning. My wish is for it to fill that space for everyone who hears it. It’s a love letter to my idols, our fans, and myself. I wanted to take Y’allternative music into a glam space that feels at once like a lonely western and a glam epic. Where we are in this country and the world just feels so completely hopeless, and it sometimes feels crazy to be making independent art in a time like this. I hope this song can make people believe we can get out of this place and make a change… even for just under 4 minutes. – Bonnie Ramone
