Clancy Jones – “I’d Be Lying”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Clancy Jones’ song “I’d Be Lying” from his forthcoming album Rise With The Sun, due to be released on May 1o.  Rise With the Sun was engineered, mixed, and mastered at 7013 Sound in Fort Worth, Texas by Grant Wilborn.

“I’d Be Lying” is Clancy Jones on acoustic guitar and vocals; Clint Kirby on drums and percussion; and
Matt Tedder on guitar and bass. This is true Americana music – catchy, raw and real, leading up to a two-steppin’ rhythm, with glorious vocals by Clancy, and tireless, winding electric guitar melodies. The lyrics too, tell an honest tale of struggle for the dream – real life, with calloused hands and overalls and having to. get up every morning kind of struggles. “Standing in the rain on New Years Eve, smoking a cigarette they’re gonna get the best of me, and I’d be lying if I said told you bad habits die easy.”  Change isn’t easy.

“I’d be Lyin'” is a reflection on times spent working on the ranch and all the folks that came before me. I spent 4 years on a cattle ranch in SW Oklahoma. It changed me and gave me a new perspective on life and my purpose. There are no shortcuts in life, discipline, hard work, and dedication will get you results. – Clancy Jones
