Song Premiere: Karen Jonas “Paris Breeze”

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Karen Jonas’ song “Paris Breeze” from her forthcoming album The Restless, due to be available on March 3.  The Restless was produced and arranged by Seth Morrissey and Karen Jonas; recorded, engineered and mixed by Blaine Misner at Cue Recording Studios in Falls Church Va. Cover art for the album was created by Print Jazz.

“Paris Breeze” is Karen Jonas on vocals and acoustic guitar; Tim Bray on electric guitar; Seth Morrissey on bass; Ben Tufts on drums; Colin Thompson on lap steel; and
Jay Starling on piano.  Mid-tempo electric guitar rich with vibrato sets the stage for this song of intrigue and a hazy romantic encounter: “wrapped around your body like ivy.”  For the video, live performance shots interweave with suggestive imagery and the smoky tale is complete.

To me, “Paris Breeze” is the overture of The Restless. I saw a romantic Parisian hotel filled with longing, love, and mystery. When we open into the chorus, ‘maybe after all this I’m still searching,’ it strikes the heart of feeling ‘restless.’

We shot the video with talented, patient videographer Will Web of Lodusdog9, at Black Lace Boudoir in downtown Fredericksburg. My very best friend, and rom-com author, Andie Burke came down to direct the scene. It was empowering to work in such a woman-positive, comfortable environment to film this boozy encounter. The performance shots are from eleven_eleven_fxbg, an awesome stage in downtown Fredericksburg. I’m playing Tim’s gorgeous White Falcon because, let’s be honest, it matched my outfit. – Karen Jonas
