Datura — “Kind Of Love”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Datura’s song “Kind Of Love” The song is out today, just in time for Valentine’s Day. “Kind of Love” was written nd preformed by Jessica Pyrdsa; produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Justin Douglas at King Electric in Austin TX.
Datura is the solo project of Jessica Pyrdsa. She’s released many amazing jazz infused songs over the past couple of years. Her voice is pure velvet, combining the vintage Jazz stylings of Betty Carter and the modern pop tilt of Billie Eilish.

Etta James said she wanted a “Sunday Kind of Love.” I decided to get a little bit more specific. I started writing a poem 3 years ago. It was the beginning of a manifestation of my *~ideal love~*. On my daily walks, on a drive around the corner, during my day-to-day life, I started finding inspiration in everyday things that spoke LOVE to me.
Many of the concepts I wrote about were not tangible things, but more of a feeling, which is what love is to me. I want a Sentimental Mood, Rhapsody in Blue, Clair de Lune Kind of Love. I kept writing this poem for a good part of a year! And to this day, even though the song has now been recorded and “finished”, I am still finding inspiration and continue to write lyrics for it. Maybe there will have to be a Kind of Love pt. II.” – Jessica Pyrdsa
We, at Americana Highways, are looking forward to “Kind Of Love Pt. II”.
Musicians on the song are Jessica Pyres on Wurlitzer, Sam Pankey on bass; John Avery on saxophone; Justin Douglas on guitar and synth. Videography is courtesy of Hollie Hart and video editing is by Jessica Pyrdsa. Listen to Datura on Spotify here: Datura Spotify
