Matt Charette — “Wrecking Ball”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Matt Charette’s song “Wrecking Ball,” from his forthcoming release High Hopes, which is due to be released on March 10.  High Hopes was produced by Matt Charette and Dave Westner; engineered and mixed by Dave Westner; recorded at Wooly Mammoth Sound in Waltham MA.  It was mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago mastering service. Photography for the album is courtesy of Adam Parshall, with album layout by Daryl Norson. This song will be available on January 10.

“Wrecking Ball” is Matt on guitars and vocals; Chris Coughlin on keys; Greg Hoffman on drums; Nick Scotti on bass; and Matt Sullivan on guitars. This is a country rock song with a bouncy rhythm that instantly grabs your attention and keeps it — like wrecking ball would.  “Tearing down to the studs … breaking down every goddamn thing … chasing the end of the world.”  It’s gonna fall.   It sure feels like that sometimes.  This song will keep you company when it feels that way.

I wrote this tune (like most of the record) during  the height of the pandemic, when it sure seemed like the end of the world. It’s my “apocalypse jam.” — Matt Charette
