Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Dallas Wayne’s song “Rock Bottom, Population 1,” from his album Coldwater, Tennessee, due to be available on April 22. Coldwater, Tennessee was produced by Buddy Cannon; recorded by Tony Castle at Sound Emporium Studio with assistance by Skyler Chuckry and additional Recording at Cannon Productions.  It was mixed by Tony Castle at Blackbird Studios and mastered by Eric Conn at Independent Mastering. The production coordinator for the project was Shannon Finnegan and the album artwork design was courtesy of Mary Sue Englund, Blu Design Concepts

Dallas Wayne is SiriusXMs host on Willie’s Roadhouse and Outlaw Country.

“Rock Bottom, Population 1” is Dallas Wayne on vocals and guitar; Wyatt Beard on background vocals; Jim “Moose” Brown on piano, B-3 organ, synthesizer, and Wurlitzer; Melonie Cannon on background vocals; Fred Eltringham on drums and percussion; Larry Franklin on fiddle; Mike Johnson on steel guitar; James Mitchell on electric guitar; Larry Paxton on bass; Joe Spivey on fiddle; and John Willis on acoustic guitar.

Dallas Wayne presents a classic country style song with deep vocal tones and the wry lyrics, courtesy of a meeting of the minds with Robbie Folks, that only thinly mask much deeper truths.

The song “Rock Bottom, Population 1” is one of the very first songs that I co-wrote with Robbie Fulks. Although it has been recorded before, I love the fresh Mel Tillis and the Statesiders kind of treatment that producer Buddy Cannon was able to recreate with this song. I guess it’s only natural, since Buddy spent many years playing with the Statesiders. — Dallas Wayne
