Song Premiere: Silver Lake 66 “Bun E. Carlos”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Silver Lake 66’s song “Bun E. Carlos,” from their new album The Space Between Us, due to be released on June 17.

The album was produced by Maria Francis, Jeff Overbo, and Bryan Daste; mixed, engineered and mastered with strings arrangements by Bryan Daste. It was primarily recorded at Casa Sellwood in Portland, Oregon, with the strings recorded at Dream Tree Studios NW.

“Bun E. Carlos” is Maria Francis on vocals, drums, guitar and percussion; Jeff Overbo on vocals, guitar, lap steel, dobro, baritone guitar and 12-string guitar; Bryan Daste on pedal steel and background vocals; Toupee Zehr on bass; Paul Brainard on trumpet; Mary-Sue Tobin on baritone and tenor saxophone.

“My baby cusses like a sailor and drums like a metronome,” is the opening line over cowbell, launching this sexy, swaggering song with horns and a groove that’ll have you grinning and hopping.  Silver Lake 66 is giving us some very exciting songs just in time for summertime on the new album.

I love the way this song turned out! It started out with the guitar groove I came up with, Maria added the drum beat and it took shape from there. The horns are the icing the cake! This song is really fun and provides a great intro to the album. — Jeff Overbo
