Wilson Banjo Co — “Autumn Leaves”
Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Wilson Banjo Co’s song “Autumn Leaves.” The song appeared on their recently released album Six Degrees of Separation, which was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Steve Wilson at Bonfire Studio, with executive producers Lonnie Lassiter and Ehtna Burkhardt.
“Autumn Leaves” was written by Donna Hughes. Musicians on the song are Sarah Logan on lead vocals; Richard Bennett on guitar; Stephen Hudson on fiddle; Gena Britt on banjo; Blake Young on mandolin; Glen Crain on resonator guitar; Michael “Porkchop” Branch on bass; and Gena Britt and Steve Wilson on harmony vocals.
The video was created by Wilson Pickins Promotions, and filmed at Center Methodist Church, Westminster SC. Steeped in scenes of a rustic natural graveyard in the autumn leaves, the video supports the song’s exploration of mortality perfectly. Witness the skilled playing and wistful songwriting that always characterizes Wilson Banjo Co.
We had Autumn Leaves on hold to record for a couple years. Sarah just fell in love with it the first time she heard it and her vocal treatment is stunning. It’s really the perfect time in our lives for this song. The lyrics from Donna Hughes really speak to the perspective our world is bringing us back to….
If they were ever in a hurry
It didn’t do them any good
Rich or poor they’re all the same now…
The world is turning….. the sun will shine
Without you and me…”
I am so pleased with how it all came together with these amazing musicians. -Steve Wilson
I’m so proud that Steve Wilson asked me to be a part of this project! The song Autumn Leaves is delivered perfectly by Sarah Logan & the beautiful inflections in her voice really shine on this song. I was honored to play my Wilson Custom Banjo and sing harmony on this cut! -Gena Britt
