Video Premiere: James Mastro “My God”

Reviews

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of James Mastro ‘s song “My God.” The song was produced by Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith).

“My God” is James Mastro on lead vocal and guitars; Tony Shanahan on bass, keyboards and backing vocals; and Louie Appel on drums and percussion.

The video was directed and filmed by James Mastro, and edited by Bob Perry.  You may recognize  James Mastro from Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople)’s band.   The video demonstrates the song’s point; namely, that human faces are compelling and all signify humanity, regardless of social constructs.  James Mastro put the point this way in the song: “God is love, and love is blind.” Listen for some easy and fluid, but significant, music.

The people in this video are all neighbors on my block in Hoboken, NJ. Quite a beautiful, diverse bunch from all over the world, with their own gods. But I know if I fell down in the street, they wouldn’t ask what religion I was or who I voted for before helping me back up. That, to me, is the essence of this song and video.  — James Mastro
