Tyler Childers and Spotify are honoring the one-year anniversary of his Grammy nominated album, Country Squire, with the exclusive release of two new tracks, part of the Spotify Singles collection (and a gift for anyone needing new music right about now).
Side A is a new take on Childers’ “House Fire” featuring the Travelin’ McCourys. It starts off as an acoustic take with some string-band thump. Halfway in, though, we get some banjo, and we’re off and running through the Kentucky bluegrass.
Side B is a rendition of 1982’s “Highway 40 Blues,” written by Larry Cordle and most famously covered by Ricky Skaggs (like Childers, both are from Kentucky). Cordle and Skaggs appear on the song and split vocal duties with Childers on the instrumentally jam-packed track. This may be the best driving tune you’ll hear this year.
