Americana Highways brings you this song premiere of Jeremy Garrett’s “What Would We Find” from his forthcoming release Circles. “What Would We Find” is Jeremy Garrett on vocals, fiddle, guitar and mandolin, with harmony vocals by Prisca. The album was produced by Jeremy Garrett and Billy Hume, engineered and mixed by Billy Hume, and mastered by Glenn Schick.
With a fine display of complex stringed musicianship, Jeremy Garrett lyrically questions the meanings beneath the surfaces. Plan to get your copy of Circles, after you listen to this premiere right here.
I came up with the idea for this song on a 6,000 mile cross country motorcycle trip. We were riding out through the Black Hills and it struck me, how that it looked as though if you could take all the timber away and expose just the rocks and barren land, what would you find? It seemed as though there were hidden layers of possible treasures in the rocks under the timber… perhaps like relationships can be sometimes. I only had the idea and a basic melody and had the opportunity to write with one of my heroes, Darrell Scott. We used this idea and needless to say, I learned a lot about songwriting that day. I love what we came up with. Prisca is singing harmony vocals on this and she kills. — Jeremy Garrett
