Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Dan Gootner’s song co-written with Elie Ganz, “Sweater Weather” from his forthcoming album. The album was recorded at Power Station Recording Studios, engineered and mixed by Paul Kronk, and mastered by Brendan Duffey.
“Sweater Weather” is Elie Ganz on vocals; Daniel Gootner on guitar; Steve Argy on bass; and Jamie Newitt on drums.
As Dan tells us about this song, “‘Sweater Weather’ is our newest single! We are excited to release something a little different than the last few and be back in the rock n roll vein a bit. It started off with the main guitar riff, and from there we built out the rest of the song and lyrics around it. Dan had just been travelling through the Smoky Mountains in the fall and was really enjoying the weather, and this is partly where the story came from. We also have a song we released called “Love in The Summer Time.” We had fun writing the lyrics as if there was some connected universe with the characters, only now the theme is Fall, it takes place much later after their summer fling, and there is some love lost and longing there.”
This is swingy heartland rock with a cool bopping rhythm and happy lines celebrating fall, romance, and just being alive: “you can’t stop time, I love you forever in sweater weather.” The electric guitar riffs are delightful and the song never lets you down, not even for a second. Welcome, fall!
