Hank and Shaidri Alrich “My Town is Gone”
Americana Highways presents this premiere of Hank and Shaidri Alrich’s song “My Town is Gone” from their forthcoming album. It was recorded by Andre Moran at Cedar Creek Studio in Austin Texas, and mixed and mastered by Fred Remmert at Austin Media Productions.
“My Town is Gone” is Glenn Fukunaga on bass; Rick Richards on drums; Chip Dolan on accordion; Andrew Hardin on acoustic guitars; Hank Alrich on acoustic guitars and vocals; Shaidri Alrich on vocals.
As Hank tells us about this song, “I wrote “My Town Is Gone” just two days after the Dixie Fire destroyed my hometown of Greenville, California, on August 4, 2021. The fire burned nearly 963,000 acres across Northern California, devastating communities throughout the Feather River watershed. I think the song addresses the catharsis that I feel is necessary for individuals and communities to work through such a disaster and move towards restoration of emotional health.”
Hank’s vocals are classic raspy old timey country and the accordion adds a mournful quality amidst Shaidri’s sweet vocals harmonizing and singing in turn about the whole town, that place that meant everything, that has gone away.
