Sean Burns and Lost Country “Tables and Chairs”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Sean Burns’ song “Tables and Chairs” from his forthcoming album Sean Burns and Lost Country sing “Better Off In Time” and Other Songs for the Dance Floor. The album was produced by Skinny Dyck, Sean Burns and Scott Franchuk; and recorded and mixed by Scott Franchuk. It was recorded at No Fun Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba and mixed at Riverdale Recorders in Edmonton, Alberta, with additional recording and engineering by Gabe Rhodes at Lampwick Studio in Austin Texas.
“Tables and Chairs” is Sean Burns on vocals, upright bass, tic-tac guitar, and acoustic guitar; Blaine Badiuk on fiddle; Floyd Domino (Merle Haggard) on piano; Christopher Bryan Dunn on acoustic and electric guitars; Joanna Miller on drums; Jeremy Penner on fiddle; and Dan Russell on pedal steel.
This video was filmed by Jon Wilson and Mayor Matt Allen, edited by Jon Wilson, and filmed on location at Belle’s Kitchen and Music Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Sean tells us about the song, “Before making the album, I fell deeper and deeper down the well of Texas dancehall country music made by artists like Amber Digby, as well as the earlier era of Ray Price and Johnny Bush. I was spinning a lot of that music on my radio program and was immersed in the style those bands play down there. I could have gone to Texas to make this album, but I had assembled a good band at home so I thought we could put our own spin on that Texas dancehall sound. I think ‘Tables & Chairs’ is a good example of what we accomplished.”
You may recognize Sean Burns as the bass player for Corb Lund. In this song, he encapsulates the feel of old country dancehall tunes, and all the raw human authenticity is right there. It’s a very enjoyable old timey listen and it’s an original that sounds like a classic.
