Alexandra King “Anchored to the Sea”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Alexandra King’s song “Anchored to the Sea” from her forthcoming album. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Evan Sieling.
“Anchored to the Sea” is Alexandra King on vocals; and Evan Sieling on mandolin, tenor guitar, acoustic guitar, bodhran (percussion), piano and bass.
“This song is for the people who love deeply but still feel the horizon calling. To be anchored to the sea is to belong to something that never stands still — to be torn between comfort and becoming, devotion and discovery. It’s an honest confession that sometimes the current inside you is stronger than any harbor. You can feel it in the moving track – floating you through the song until it all drops out and that lingering echoing silence at the end shows you, you are alone at sea.”
Alexandra is Irish-American, the experiences of which shine through in her style as an amalgamation of Celtic folk revival-infused anthems (with bright mandolin) and Americana emotional resonance. “Anchored to the Sea” displays the admixture wonderfully. Alexandra has lived in New York, Ireland, and most recently Nashville, and her songs radiate the unique combination of the effects of these milieux.
