Tipps & Obermiller “Fresh Hell”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Tipps and Obermiller’s song “Fresh Hell” from their forthcoming album Little Kid Heart, which is set for release on July 10th. Little Kid Heart was produced, engineered, and mixed by Taylor Tatsch; recorded at AudioStyles; and mastered by Todd Pipes.

This song will be available on April 24th.

“Fresh Hell” is Hilary Tipps on acoustic guitar and vocals; Steve Obermiller – Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, MandoGuitar, and vocals; and Taylor Tatsch on Guitars, Mandolin, Bass, Keys, Drums, and percussion.

As Hilary Tipps tells us, “We wrote this after losing a friendship that felt foundational—like it reached all the way back to the first places we learned belonging. It’s about how new pain can wake up old wounds you thought were long buried. We tried telling it a dozen ways before realizing it wasn’t just about one person—it’s about all of us. Sometimes when someone leaves, it really does feel like something vital is taken with them.”

Building on a gentle groove, Hilary sings of apathy, addiction, and “new pain, old wounds” in this song by Tipps & Obermiller about patterns and cycles of human misery and the mounting attempts to heal traumas with layers of new traumatic choices. Sometimes we chase our own tail in life, and this song considers that all too human characteristic.
