Chris Williams and Kid Reverie “White Collar”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Chris Williams and Kid Reverie’s song “White Collar” from their forthcoming album which will be out later this year. The album was mixed by Andrew Berlin of The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado and mastered by Dave Wilton at Coalesce Audio, Lafayette, CO
“White Collar” is Steve Varney (Kid Reverie) on piano and lead vocals; Chris Williams on acoustic guitar, background vocals and synth; John Paul Grigsby on bass; Jeb Bows on violin; Max Barcello on drums; and Russic Smith on cello.
Steve Varney (Kid Reverie) tells us: “There’s a comeuppance I want to see in this world, on so many fronts. Money sure seems to equal power, so it’s hard not to quetion the motives and egos of the ultra wealthy, the white collars out there stealing endlessly and making it look like business as usual. I am sick of it”
Chris says, “There has never been a time in US history where the disparity of wealth between the “haves and have-nots” has been so glaringly unavoidable. The imbalance clearly shows the cracks in the evolution of a young country that rewards wealth and prosperity above all, and has cast the allusary percetion that it’s acheivable for everyone.”
This song embodies divine buildup until there’s a cacophony of voices and sounds from afar -emulating the detachment and self absorption of the wealthy, just before everything falls away abruptly and the hushed piano returns. It’s a modern day Thoreau-ian observation.
