Teni Rane “Places”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Teni Rane’s song “Places” from her upcoming album No Turning Back, which is set for a September release. This song, though, will be available on Feb 6th. No Turning Back was recorded and engineered by Brent Bill at Redbud in Chattanooga, TN with additional recordings from Asteraceae Productions in Chattanooga, TN, and by AZ Productions in Los Angeles, CA. It was mixing by Alex Wong (High Ceilings Music) in Nashville, and mastered by Dave Polster (Well Made Music) in Bristol, VA.

“Places” is Teni Rane on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, background vocals, and kalimba; Phil Faconti on acoustic, electric, classical, and baritone guitars; Dave Eggar on cello, piano, and keys; Brent Bill on bass and percussion;
Parker Hall on taps; Jonathan Shumaker on bass; and Jivan Gasparyan, Jr. on duduk.

As Teni tells us about this song: “No matter where I have been or how amazing the personal experience of that place or event or moment, I’ve always had a yearning to share it with someone. I’m learning to be more content sharing life with myself, and to be more delighted by how I get to use each day. Even so, partnership and companionship as I move through life from place to place feel important and anchoring. It’s about being a wild, wandering, whole spirit and finding someone who runs beside me through each adventure that life brings.”

The philosophical contemplation of inhabiting spaces and places is rich with experiences to identify, and as Teni Rane’s new album sets out to explore this concept in song, this song “Places” leads the way. Entwining new places and spaces with experiencing these adventures with a partner is a complex but relatable feat, and Teni pulls it off.
