Ken Holt “Proud”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Ken Holt’s new song “Proud” from his recently released album Shades of Light. The album was produced and mixed by Ken Holt and mastered by Michael Geier.
“Proud” is Ken Holt on vocals, guitars, and bass; Pat Bautz on drums; and Howard Laravea on Hammond B3 and piano.
This video was created by Michael Stover. It’s a song about a father being proud of his son at any age, and even when he’s choosing things that aren’t what his father had perhaps originally planned. The footage is endearing as it shows father and sons of all ages. Quite charming.
As Ken tells us about the song, “’Proud’ is a personal song that I wrote to tell my son, Raul, that I was proud of him and that I loved him. It was written shortly after Raul had joined the Marine Corp and left for boot camp in South Carolina. On the day of his graduation, I played ‘Proud’ for him for the first time. The song, in effect, belongs to Raul and I asked his permission to include it on the Shades of Light album. ‘Proud’ is a testament to the relationship between a father and a son.”
