Zoe Boekbinder – “Mycelium”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Zoe Boekbinder’s song “Mycelium” from their forthcoming album Wildflower, which is due to be available on April 26 via Are and Be Recordings. Wildflower was produced by Megan McCormick; engineered by Jordan Hamlin and Kate Haldrup at MOXE Studio in Nashville; and mixed by Rachael Moore. It was mastered by Jett Galindo.
“Mycelium” is Zoe Boekbinder on vocals; Megan McCormick on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, lap steel and harmony vocals; Megan Coleman on drum kit and percussion; and Ryan Madora on bass guitar.
A sweetly sung exploration of hope for an afterlife after a loved on has passed on, this song is pleasant and grows on you without hitting you over the head. Familiar and easy.
“Where did you go
Does anyone know
Does anyone ever really die
Will i see you (like you said)
On the other side”
“Mycelium” explores the possibility of an afterlife. I wrote it thinking about my best friend and my grandmother, two of the greatest loves of my life. They are still with me in so many ways, and some of them we can’t yet explain. – Zoe Boekbinder
