Katie Oates – “Reason Enough”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Katie Oates’ song “Reason Enough” from her forthcoming album Edge of a Hurricane, which is due to be available on May 3. This song will be available on February 23rd.
Edge of a Hurricane was produced by Oates, Chris Rosser, and Parker Foley; recorded by Robert George at Sound Temple Studios and also mixed by Chris Rosser at Hollow Reed Arts, both in Asheville, NC. It was mastered by Dave Harris at Studio B. Graphic design for the album was by Robin Gregory and photography is courtesy of Tracy Watts.
“Reason Enough” is Katie on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; and Parker Foley on acoustic bass. As Katie sings of a bird by the window, her own voice is a birdsong. Imagery of the immensity and beauty of nature, and, hopefully, the healing and conciliatory powers within, are all heralded gently in this immediately classic folk song.
Sometimes the scope of the problems in our world and our fractured human relationships threaten to overwhelm us. Nature often reminds us of our place in the universe: we simultaneously have outsized influence over the world, and we are only a speck in the universe.
