Bo Bice – “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Bo Bice’s version of Bob Seger’s song “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man,” the first single release from the upcoming all-star bluegrass tribute to Bob Seger: Silver Bullet Bluegrass. Silver Bullet Bluegrass will be released this summer via Lonesome Day Records (SONY/The Orchard).

The album was produced by Randall Deaton; engineered by Randall Deaton, Jimmy Nutt, and Gary Nichols (Steel Drivers); it was recorded at Lonesome Day Recording Studio, Booneville, KY, and also recorded and mixed at The NuttHouse Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

“Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man” is Bo Bice on vocals; Stephen Mougin on guitar; Darrell Webb on mandolin; Ned Luberecki on banjo; Mike Bub on bass; Wayne Bridge on dobro; and Gary Nichols and Cindy Walker on harmony vocals.

This bluegrass interpretation of “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man” is just wonderful – with the sexy smokey lyrics carried over frenzied guitar and mandolin and whirls of the banjo.  Great juxtaposition and a great idea. It’s nonstop.

My involvement in this project came about when my close friend Gary Nichols asked if I would like to meet Randall Deaton to discuss doing a new twist on an old favorite song of mine “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.” I thought it was great to crossover such a well known artist as Bob Seger —- I had to be a part of this tribute project!

Bob Seger has been an influence on my vocal style and performance for sure! I believe as performers we take pieces from our favorite artists and meld them into who we want to portray as our stage persona. There is definitely some Bob Seger in what I do. – Bo Bice
