March to August – “Cold Wind”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of March to August’s song “Cold Wind” from their forthcoming album R – 358 Sessions, due out later this year. March to August was previously known as Route 358. The duo’s new album R – 358 Sessions was produced by Derrick and Jodi Mears, and the video below was recorded by Darren Crisp of Crisp Recording.
“Cold Wind” is Derrick Mears on guitar and vocals; and Jodi Mears on bass, vocals, and stompbox. Here in the video, the duo is set up in the studio with a couple of mics, raw and real, as we simply watch two musicians play together, like we’re there to observe their session. Derrick has that haunting vocal tone that sounds foreboding already, and he then when he sings lyrics that refer to cold wind knocking at the door, and ghosts you get shivers. And the underlying message – that relationships take conscious effort especially through challenges – springs up clearly, presented in the soul-stirring musical style that is exactly as it should be.
The song “Cold Wind” exemplifies that relationships are fragile and if we don’t nurture and care for each other they may reach a point that the damage is too much to repair. – Derrick Mears
