Leo Sawikin – “New York I’m Coming Home”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Leo Sawikin’s song “New York I’m Coming Home” from his forthcoming album which is due to be released in 2024. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by the highly acclaimed producer Phil Ek (Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty) with assistant engineer Garrett Reynolds. It was mastered by Greg Calbi (of Sterling Sound) and recorded at Studio Litho in Seattle.
“New York I’m Coming Home” is Leo Sawikin on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars; Sean Lane on drums; and Morgan Henderson on bass. The song will be released on November 14.
“My eyes are open, I’m awake for the first time… I’m going to fly over the ocean… New York I am coming home tonight.” This song screams the joy of belonging to the glamorous “city that never sleeps” as its loyal inhabitants are inclined to do. Leo Sawikin carries us to the heights of splendor of celebrating ones place in the thriving metropolis and glorious cultural mecca that calls people home from all around the globe.
I wrote the song last year on my first solo trip to Europe. I took the train from Rome to Barcelona and stopped in several cities along the way. The wonder of it all really allowed me to step outside of my head and just be alive to what was around me. I felt a bit reborn and wrote the song towards the end of the trip, thinking about how excited I was to bring this new perspective, new pieces of myself really, home to New York City. – Leo Sawikin
