Heather Sarona – “River”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Heather Sarona’s version of Joni Mitchell’s song “River,” with Lindsey Tims, in advance of the holidays this season. This song was produced by Heather Sarona and Lindsey Tims; engineered by Lindsey Tims and mastered by Brent Lambert of The Kitchen Mastering.
This song is Heather Sarona on lead and harmony vocals, guitar, and banjo; and Lindsey Tims on harmony vocals, guitars, fiddle, mandolin, and bass. Lovely and lively strings welcome in this classic song, freshly mined by this duo just in time for the twinkly lights to light up the dark months this year. Heather reaches some of the same heights of wonder that Joni established: “I wish I had a river I could skate away on….” It’s a renewed take on the pretty song.
I wanted to record a bluegrass version of “River” for years. It finally made sense once I started working with Lindsey, as he could really help capture the upbeat, acoustic sound I had imagined for the song. I love trying to make cover songs sound recognizable yet unique, and we hope that comes through with this bluegrass spin we put on River. – Heather Sarona
The song will rereleased on November 15 and you can find it here: Https://song.link/heatherandlindsey
