Ryan McMahon – “Feed Your Mind”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Ryan McMahon’s song “Feed Your Mind,” from his forthcoming album Live Now, due to be released on November 10. Live Now was produced by Jordan Pritchett and Danielle Marie King, and engineered by Sheldon Zaharko.
“Feed Your Mind” is Ryan McMahon on vocals and acoustic guitar; Jordan Pritchett on acoustic guitar and background vocals; Matthew Atkins on drums; Shane Hendrickson on bass; Chris Gestrin on keys; Jay Buettner on electric guitar; and Danielle Marie King on background vocals.
This video was directed by Cathy Lundgren and produced by Sean Lyons Video. “One day I’m gonna get it right… ” sets the backdrop for scenes of Ryan playing in the back of a pickup truck, walking n the woods with hooded figure in pursuit, fighting demons, beautiful forests — “there’s nothing that really terrifies as I finally take my place, I’m gonna take more than enough space.” The song’s message comes through: live your life wide open, don’t get sidetracked by all the demons and pain.
“Feed Your Mind” was the final song written for Live Now, and it also might very well be the cornerstone of the record. I’ve spent years working on my mental health and my reactions and viewpoints to life around me, and I think this song came to me during my time of recognizing that I have more control over my outlook than maybe I realized. It’s a song about seeking out and seeing beauty in things right now, while I’m alive and while I still can. – Ryan McMahon
