Jim Mitchell – “Why You Rockin’ On Me”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Jim Mitchell’s song “Why You Rockin’ On Me,” from his forthcoming album Repeat Offender, due to be released on November 17.  Repeat Offender was produced by Jim Mitchell and the Repeat Offenders; engineered by Diem Freeman, Randy Weaver, and Neil Gibbs; mixed by Diem Freeman and Randy Weaver; and mastered by Greg Calbi of Sterling Sound.

Musicians on “Why You Rockin’ On Me” are Jim Mitchell on lead vocals, guitar, and piano; Jack Stanton on pedal steel and dobro; Ray Roller on electric and acoustic guitar, and mandolin; Tony “shotgun” Foica on bass guitar; Troy McAllister on bass guitar; Steve Campbell on drums, tambourine and vibroslap; and Tom Reock on Hammond B3 organ.

The video was directed, shot and edited by Jim Mitchell with color correction by Henry Beguiristain. Just trying to get along and live life, when something trips you up — that’s what this one is about, in Jim Mitchell’s easy outlaw style. Easy with a touch of heartland rock feel.  With scenes that almost could have been shot 50 years ago, the video brings the song into focus.

“I Don’t Know Why You Got To Be So Unkind
I Guess It’s Your Way To Shine
Why Dont You Just Let Me Be
Why You Rockin’ On Me.”

This is a song I wrote concerning the never-ending bad news that one receives on a daily basis that makes our lives a little bit harder each day. Maybe an argument with the wife or a friend, or being boxed out of a job you wanted, or being constantly told how I should think or feel so that I can become part of someone else’s agenda. This song is me trying to resist all the negativity around me to continue moving forward. – Jim Mitchell
