Song Premiere: Ryan Curtis “Can Take Back”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Ryan Curtis’ song “Can’t Take Back,” from his forthcoming album Aint Ever Easy, due to be released on July 14.  The album was engineered by Bart Budwig and Brandon Wallace; mixed and then it was mastered by Brandon Wallace at Luxetone Studios in Boise, Idaho.

“Can’t Take Back” is  Ryan on vocals and acoustic guitar; Rider Soran on electric guitar; Daniel Blumenfeld on keys; Nevada Swole on bass; and Cooper Trail on drums.  A bluesy, funky groove sets the sexy foundation for this song about what you can’t take back, and the realization that she’s not coming back.  Instruments groove in turns, and Ryan’s low growl is the serious icing on the cake.

“Can’t Take Back” is an older song that really took on a new life in the studio, when drummer, Copper Trail, suggested we try the song half time. It instantly transformed the song into that Waylon style 70’s country funk grove and I’ve never played it any different since. — Ryan Curtis
