Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Casey James Prestwood’s song “Traveler’s Motel” from his forthcoming album Where I’m Going is Where I’ve Always Been (due to be available on June 17). Where I’m Going is Where I’ve Always Been was produced by Justin Trevino.

“Traveler’s Motel” is Casey James on vocals and guitar; Kevin Finn on drums; Jeff Martin on bass; and David Knodle on lead guitar, with Tyler Hall (Alan Jackson) on steel guitar; Hank Singer on fiddle; Floyd Domino (Merle Haggard) on piano; and Amber Digby, Justin Trevino, and Sierra Ferrell on backing vocals.

“Popcorn ceilings, fluorescent lights, is where I’ll be away from you tonight…. I might not be checking out if you decide to check in.” The easy pace of the honky tonk music and the casual analysis will rock you gently, and as a result, you’ll say definitively that Prestwood has captured the essence of honky tonk right here.

My basement flooded a week or so ago. When I wrote this song, by basement had flooded,
and my family and pets were stowed up in a hotel that wasn’t too shabby. It made me recall all the less than savory dumps I had stayed at over the years on the road. I sort of fantasized from there. – Casey James Prestwood
