Grain Thief — Ain’t Hungover Yet

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Grain Thief’s album Ain’t Hungover Yet, due to be available on November 18.

Ain’t Hungover Yet was recorded August 12, 2021 at the Podunk Bluegrass Festival in Goshen, CT on Telefunken Microphones. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Alan Venitosh with additional mastering by Michael Harmon. Produced by Grain Thief, the album is distributed by Plow Man Records.

Musicians on the album are Patrick Mulroy (vocals, guitar), Tom  Farrell (guitar), Zach Meyer (mandolin and vocals), Michael Harmon (bass and vocals), and Alex Barstow (fiddle). Whimsical tongue-in-cheek songs (like “Diesel Baby”) and old timey tunes like “Tennessee Stud,” and more serious songs like “Nightmare,”  are delivered with that raw live quality that makes you want to get up from your lawn chair at the spring festival and dance.

As a band, we are always striving to release records that depict our sound, influences, and personalities. While it’s fun to mess around in the studio and concoct a piece of work in that environment, we are more at home on a stage. It’s a place where we feel like we can just do our thing. It’s not often the case that our shows would be recorded, let alone using some of the nicest mics money can buy, so a live record was serendipitous. With Ain’t Hungover Yet, we are bringing out the fun side of our show playing some of our favorite songs and bringing a live concert offering to the Grain Thief catalog. — Mike Harmon
