Fireside Collective — “I’m Givin’ In”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Fireside Collective’s song “I’m Givin’ In” from their upcoming album, Across The Divide, due to be available on August 5. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Clay Miller of Crossroads Studios in Arden, NC. Cover art by is Hannah Bunzey with graphic design by Lynn O’Hara.

“I’m Givin’ In” is Joe Cicero on acoustic guitar; Alex Genova on banjo; Jesse Iaquinto on mandolin and lead vocals; Tommy Maher on resonator guitar and vocals; and Carson White on upright bass and vocals.  The song is a soul searching for some deeper truths in relationship, and a revisiting of the little white lies we tell ourselves.  Fireside Collective has a simple, easy style and tells an open honest story.

“I’m Givin’ In” is a song written about expectations and false assumptions. It deals with the issue of telling ourselves stories about something that may or may not be entirely accurate. We often times create scenarios in our mind and start attaching emotions to them before we truly know all of the details. The character in the story has finally realized how he has been operating on false assumptions and decides enough is enough. In the studio, ‘I’m Givin’ In’ was one of those songs that came out naturally and with a lot of feeling. It blends elements of bluegrass, newgrass and contemporary songwriting to create an energetic rhythm blended with exciting chord changes. Everyone knew exactly what to play on this one and the result is another classic Fireside hybrid that is both timeless and modern. — Jessie Iaquinto
