Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Ever More Nest’s song “Coming Along,” from their forthcoming record, Out Here Now, due to be released on August 19.  Out Here Now was produced by Neilson Hubbard; recorded & mixed by Dylan Alldredge at Skinny Elephant Recording; and mastered by James DeMain at Yes Master Studios. Cover photo and design are by Kelcy Mae Wilburn and the inside photo was taken by Summer Dorr.

“Coming Along” is Kelcy Wilburn (Kelcy Mae) on vocals and guitar; Neilson Hubbard on drums, percussion, piano, and vocals; Will Kimbrough on guitars, banjo, and mandolin; Dean Marold on bass guitar; and Fats Kaplin on pedal steel, violin, and viola.

Ever More Nest writes music that croons and rolls over relatable angst and longing for serenity and peace.  You can hear it from the vocals through the rhythm to the instruments’ fluid unfolding.

I wrote this song while on tour in 2019, exhausted by the urge to jump out of the car and run out into every expansive field we passed along the highway. The tour was a constant grind, and there was an amazing night where we (Dave my guitarist and I) sat outside and watched the Super Blood Wolf Moon eclipse. I felt in that moment like I was “in line” with where I was supposed to be, but it wasn’t exactly a celebratory moment. It was somewhat somber, like a recognition that every path—even the right one—has its moments of exhaustion, difficulty, frustration, loneliness, longing, etc. Life feels like a race against time sometimes, and touring has a way of exacerbating that feeling. — Kelcy Mae Wilburn
