Americana Highways is hosting this lyric video premiere of Chris Nurthen’s song “John Denver,” which was produced by Chris; engineered and mixed by Logan Green; and mastered by James Joseph. The cover art was provided by Harris Beauchamp.
“John Denver” was written by Chris Nurthen and Traci De Leon. Musicians on the song are Chris Nurthen on acoustic guitar and vocals; Traci De Leon on vocals; Compton McMurry on keys and synth; Logan Green, Jay Ward, and Stone Pannel on electric guitars; Adam Robert Thomas on bass; and Ben Harsen on drums.
The video editing is courtesy of Harris Beauchamp with stock footage. John Denver crafted on of the most ubiquitous songs ever made, with “Rocky Mountain High.” And in an ingenious way, Chris Nurthen and Traci DeLeon have carried the very essence of that song right into their own song about the Rocky Mountains, “John Denver.” You have to listen to believe it.
The song “John Denver” came to me while on a ski trip in Breckenridge. The chorus just rang on repeat in my head with every breathtaking view. When making the video I wanted the footage to take viewers to a similar place when hearing the song. — Chris Nurthen
