Michael Berg just recently released a new EP Brown on Brown, with original music and lyric. The EP was self-recorded, then was mixed and mastered by Will Loftus.
As the title hints, this was named in tribute to Bob Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde, but of course, with a different shade.
“Radical” is on of those lyric rich storyteller’s songs, complete with real life radicals and bluebirds flying.
“Broadway Train” is one of the brighter songs with pretty guitar playing and melodies, and a tale of escapes.
In “Baton Rouge” is a literary reference to the character Lady Brett Ashley from the Ernest Hemingway novel “The Sun Also Rises.” “The morning stain is on my window, let my day run dry,” is an intriguing line on this one.
Michael Berg brings a twist of lyrics that wrap around a connection to a busy world as we try to slow our minds down to enjoy the ride.
With influences like Dylan, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and Michael Franks, there’s a lightness behind the acoustic driven EP, with a sense of hope that grows as you make your way through Michael’s mindful and whimsical delivery.
