Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Aaron Skiles’ song “Come With Me” (featuring Matt Patton), from his forthcoming album Wreckage From the Fire. The song was co-produced and co-Written by Matt Patton (Drive-By Truckers) and Aaron Skiles. The album was recorded at Patton’s famous Dial Back Sound Studio in Water Valley, Mississippi. Bronson Tew is Patton’s partner at Dial Back Sound and he engineered the album.
“Come With Me” is Aaron Skiles on lead vocals and rhythm guitars; Matt Patton (DriveBy Truckers) on bass and backing vocals; Jay Gonzalez (Drive-By Truckers) on piano and keys; Taylor Hollingsworth (Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band) on lead guitar; A.J. Haynes (Seratones) on backing vocals; Bronson Tew on drums and backing vocals.
This group plays a heavy Southern rock splash. With Aaron Skiles, it’s all about having a great time without looking back over your shoulder. And catching the magic solos on the way.
The song “Come With Me” was inspired by a fun night out catching a Black Crowes show many years ago with a friend. After the show we headed to my studio and ended up jamming until the wee hours, inspired by the Robinson brothers’s performance. The solo that Taylor Hollingsworth does on this one is just so tasty and one of my favorite parts of the album. Matt Patton added backing vocals in the chorus that give it that rock’n’roll bassist is stepping to the mic to fill up the chorus, kind of feel. — Aaron Skiles
