Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Jeff Blaney’s song “Good Trouble,” from his concept album, Exodus. Songs on the album were written and produced by Jeff Blaney.
Exodus has been adapted to a musical by The Ivoryton Playhouse in Essex, Connecticut, called Star of Freedom. a It is going to open their 2022 season in April with 24 performances. “Good Trouble” is sung by the character “Uncle Lewis” in the musical. Uncle Lewis is a slave and a preacher on a South Carolina plantation during the Civil War.
“Good Trouble” is Jeff Blaney on vocals, guitars, and percussion; and Josh Romanowski on upright bass. Listening to the low Southern harmonies, you’d think you were listening to a slavery spiritual. It bodes well for the musical too.
This song was written for a brand new musical entitled “Star of Freedom,” which will open the season at the Ivoryton Playhouse with 24 performances in April of 2022! It is a stage adaptation of my historical fiction concept album “Exodus.” “Good Trouble” pays homage to civil rights icon John Lewis, and is sung by the character “Uncle Lewis” who is a slave in a South Carolina Plantaion during the Civil War. — Jeff Blaney
