Grace Morrison — “Just Loving You”
Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Grace Morrison’s song “Just Loving You,” co-written by Morrison and Lori McKenna. The song is part of Grace Morrison’s recent album Daughter. Daughter was produced by Jon Evans at the Studio at Brick Hill; mastered by John Mailloux at Bongo Beach Productions; with album photography by Corinna Raznikov and graphic design by Paula Mailloux at Bongo Beach Productions.
“Just Loving You” is Grace Morrison on vocals and piano; Jon Evans on bass and guitar; Matthias Bossi on drums; Lloyd Maines on papoose and pedal steel; and Teddy Mathews on background vocals. This video was sponsored by Southcoast Health Hospital, and directed by Alec Asten. This song turns on a new mother’s dedication and hope for the finest from people. Glorious and lovely.
A couple of years ago I got the email of a lifetime when Lori McKenna invited me to write with her. It was my first co-write, and I can’t believe I didn’t know that you’re supposed to show up to cowrite sessions with at least one idea. But I waddled in to her house, 8 months pregnant, with the thought that she and I would dig real deep and find some super unique thing to write about. But you know, she’s the master of writing about the everyday.
As a stepmom to 3 teenage girls, bringing a new baby to the family had its own set of challenges. Lori, as her fans will know, is an amazing mom. I think she could hear the fear in my voice when I told her ‘I just want my baby’s siblings to know he’s going to come into this world loving them.’
‘Well that’s your song’ was Lori’s response.
Southcoast Health is my local hospital group. It’s a community hospital, and I’ll forever be grateful my son was born there. Many many thanks to Southcoast for sponsoring this video. — Grace Morrison
