Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Adam Hattaway and the Haunters song “Keep Walking” from their forthcoming album Rooster. Rooster was recorded at Sublime Studio, engineered by Tom Havard, mixed by Elmore Jones and mastered by Brian Feary. Album cover art is courtesy of Rolfe Hattaway, Maya Templer, and Gina Johns. The album was recorded to 4-track tape, the fiddle in the track was overdubbed in Oklahoma by a friend of the band, Flora Knight.
“Keep Walking” is Adam Hattaway on vocals and acoustic guitar; Elmore Jones on electric guitar and piano; Liam Quinn on bass; Ryan Chin on drums; and Flora Knight on fiddle. The song was written by Adam Hattaway and published by Native Tongue.
The video was created by Adam Hogan & Josh Logan at Loho studios. It features Hattaway, Liam Quinn, Holdyn Skinner, Thomas Isbister and Simon Gregory. The video is shadowy live footage of the band in a warm setting. Hattaway and the Haunters have a keen ability to build up to a climax, and the kind of flinty harmonies that creep around your spine and give you the good chills.
I woke up with this song in my head one day. We’d tried it lotsa different ways but ended up overcooking it. I then played it solo with an acoustic guitar and realised that it needed to be stripped back to that style where it worked best. Of course we couldn’t resist having the full band on it, but it kept its stripped back vibe. – Adam Hattaway
