Kate Magdalena — “Canyonlands”
Americana Highways hereby presents this video premiere of Kate Magdalena’s song “Canyonlands,” which was produced by Billy Smiley of Northern Shore Productions.
“Canyonlands” is Kate Magdalena on vocals; Blair Masters (Garth Brooks) on keys; Jared Kneale (Lauren Daigle, Kacey Musgraves) on drums; Byron House (Robert Plant, Linda Rondstadt) on bass; Brennan Smiley (The Technicolors) and Jonathan Crone on guitars; and Troy Johnson on backing vocals.
The video was created by Alireza Haghighi with art for the single courtesy of Franklin Lane Creative. This song by Kate Magdadelana is pure nostalgia for a utopian feeling of peace and simplicity. The longing in her vocals are palpable, as the song says, “like a very fine wine.” And as Magdalena says, it’s inspired by the music of the 1960’s, but essentially the feeling is timeless.
“Canyonlands” is a wistful look at a time when we still dreamt we could change the world. Where are those dreams now? Those dreams live in the music of the 1960s and 70s, and are calling us still to a world of peace, social harmony, and natural beauty, though these dreams are elusive today. — Kate Magdalena
